The Simple Upgrade To Your 2.0T K20 Powered FL5/DE5 You Didn’t Even Know You Needed - 27WON Boost Tubes Clamp Down Starting Today!
Back when the first FK8 Type R hit the scenes in early 2017, one of the first mods 27WON came out with was a complete Boost Tube upgrade package.
Why? We quickly identified a huge weak point in the stock components in that they were made of rubber and under even normal operating boost pressure conditions, these tubes expanded a great amount. This expansion meant extra turbo lag and nobody wanted that.

Fast forward to the middle of 2020 and another problem with the FK8 came to light.
The OEM Throttle Body (TB) couplers…the piece connecting the throttle body itself to the cold side charge piping started to develop tears and led to boost leaks on many owners' rides. So, we did what any respectful performance Honda brand would do and came out with a stronger replacement part made of Silicone. Problem solved!
The year is now 2026 and FL5/DE5 owners have been running factory boost tubes and throttle body couplers for a bit of time now. But as these cars start accumulating miles and access to more and more power becomes easier with mods like turbos, it’s time to get your hands on a set of tubes that won’t yield under pressure. And who doesn’t like getting ahead of any potential future issues and also setting themselves up to future proof their builds with better components which is what our upgraded kit intends to do.
Ok, so let’s talk specifics of our 3 piece kit.
First, why did we ditch the stock EPDM rubber and go for Silicone. That’s easy. Rubber starts to deteriorate as soon as it's manufactured. Add in a high temperature and high pressure environment and this happens faster than you think. Silicone lasts about 4x as long under the same conditions so this upgrade in materials was a no brainer.

If that wasn’t enough, we reinforced our Silicone with a wire bead. We knew from our FK8 days that these boost tubes expand a great amount and that expansion meant increased turbo lag. This reinforced wire construction meant less expansion while still allowing proper flex in the spots where it matters.

We said there were 3 pieces.
Our kit includes 1 Cold Side Boost Tube, 1 Hot Side Boost Tube and 1 Throttle Body Coupler. The Boost Tubes are the pieces that connect to and come off the Front Mount Intercooler of the FL5/DE5 on either end. While the TB coupler is all the way up top by the firewall and is the last flexible bit before the throttle body. These pieces make up the main elements of the kit.
And finishing out each kit is a set of stainless steel clamps that seal in all that boost while giving you that clean polished look everyone enjoys. Yes, you can finally ditch those cheesy factory clamps. Available in your choice of colors, Redline Red or Slate Gray so you can go for a pop of color or keep it stealthy.
And there you have it, a simple but effective way to add some performance and reliability to your Type R or Type S in no time flat.
